Best Places for Dining, Shopping, and Sightseeing Near Mystic CT

Travel Guide by Glori Law

There are an incredible number of things to do year round in the Mystic area. We constantly update this guide based on our own experiences and with feedback from our guests, who now total over 120 rentals. We have gotten a good idea of what is worthwhile and what isn't. Our goal is to provide visitors with ideas and descriptions that will help to make their visit memorable. We don't get any favors, freebies, gifts etc. from any of the sites we mention.

To the left is the steamboat Sabino that is the oldest wooden, coal-fired steamboat in regular operation in the U.S. Built in 1908 in East Boothbay, Maine. It still has the original engine! It leaves from the Mystic Seaport and cruises up the Mystic river right in front of our house

The Fun Shop

The Fun Shop is a not to be missed shopping experience! The very friendly owners, manage to find over runs of top brand names that you would find in high end New York stores and sell them for a fraction of the price. Brands I have found there include Nic and Zoe, Tribal, and countless others. Our daughter has found Nic and Zoe blouces that were still on the floors of Nordstroms for savings of up to $100.! You never know what you will find there, but if you like it , buy it, because the prices are so good that it will be gone in hours.. They carry kitchen supplies, fantastic linens , children's toys, accessories, and what ever else they find that is a deal in high end merchandise. My favorite store in the area!

They now have a second location on Water Street which carries different merchadice then the original store.
