Best Places for Dining, Shopping, and Sightseeing Near Mystic CT
Travel Guide by Glori Law
There are an incredible number of things to do year round in the Mystic area. We constantly update this guide based on our own experiences and with feedback from our guests, who now total over 120 rentals. We have gotten a good idea of what is worthwhile and what isn't. Our goal is to provide visitors with ideas and descriptions that will help to make their visit memorable. We don't get any favors, freebies, gifts etc. from any of the sites we mention.
To the left is the steamboat Sabino that is the oldest wooden, coal-fired steamboat in regular operation in the U.S. Built in 1908 in East Boothbay, Maine. It still has the original engine! It leaves from the Mystic Seaport and cruises up the Mystic river right in front of our house

Mine
Mine is a quirky place where all kinds of treasures can be found. It is an experience as much as a shopping trip and is listed on Trip Advisor as one of the top ten destinations in Mystic
The mahogany table on the sun porch was purchased there for about $100. and when refinished became perfect for that area and such a bargain. We have basically furnished our daughters apartment in Pittsburgh, with what we have found there! It is a cross between an antique store and a flee market. The owners Mike and Lindsey are always helpful, friendly and ready to give you the best deal possible. This is a great place to go if you want to find a one of a kind piece that you want to refinish. Our latest finds were a hand carved bar that was brought back from Korea in the early 1950's, a one of a kind work of art, and an antique entry table that is going to be magnificent when refurbished. We have also bought some great artwork and they carry all kind of mineral stones. The dish of minerals on the buffet comes from there as does that great rocker near the kitchen. I love, love, love this place for all the great things you never knew you needed, but then can not live without once you see them! Great place to poke around on a rainy afternoon.
