Best Places for Dining, Shopping, and Sightseeing Near Mystic CT
Travel Guide by Glori Law
There are an incredible number of things to do year round in the Mystic area. We constantly update this guide based on our own experiences and with feedback from our guests, who now total over 120 rentals. We have gotten a good idea of what is worthwhile and what isn't. Our goal is to provide visitors with ideas and descriptions that will help to make their visit memorable. We don't get any favors, freebies, gifts etc. from any of the sites we mention.
To the left is the steamboat Sabino that is the oldest wooden, coal-fired steamboat in regular operation in the U.S. Built in 1908 in East Boothbay, Maine. It still has the original engine! It leaves from the Mystic Seaport and cruises up the Mystic river right in front of our house

A. K. Dashers Jewelry
A. K. Dashers, on Water Street in Stonington Borough sells interesting jewelry at very good price. They deal in a lot of earrings, rings, pendents, bracelets and natural stone items. They also at times have small decor pieces. It is not high end gem stones, but rather affordable, unique art pieces. I can not being to tell you how many things I have bought here through the years and how many times I have bought gifts for friends and family that they have loved. I always get compliments on my Dashers jewelry. There is always a striking window display and they are opened later then most stores. It is a great place if you are looking for a small gift to bring home and they are always more then happy to do beautiful complimentary wrapping for you. You can even buy Christmas gifts in July and they will do your Christmas wrapping that far ahead!
